Eskimo Carved Walrus Ivory Russian
This is a really unusual Eskimo carving collected in Alaska. I am guessing on the age as it could be earlier. It is carved from an old piece of ivory. The face of the figure looks European, I believe Russian, wearing a parka with long hair, bushy mustache and a long rectangular beard. The figure stands somewhat "pigeon toed" with his arms hanging down and slightly back with drilled holes in the hands indicating that he was carrying something in each hand. There is an age crack running up his right leg and separated at the bottom of the foot. I don't recall seeing any Eskimo carved figure like him.
