This is a very handsome and well made early basket with two rows of cedar bark beading, one below the rim and the other above the base bordered by a narrow red band and a narrow green band. Around the middle of the basket is a slightly wider band of natural beargrass with meandering design in the middle. The upper half of this design is in a possibly berry dyed maroon red and the lower half in black. This basket is in excellent condition and is a really good example of the quality of work done non the Northern Washington coast in the early 20th C.
