Maria I. Naranjo Large Santa Clara Bowl
This is a large, heavy blackware bowl by Maria I. Naranjo (b. 1919). She is best known for small pottery figures of animals and people and pueblo style nacimientos, which she started making in the 1960's. It is very hard to find her earlier pottery on the market. This piece is signed "Maria I. N" and "Sta Clara Pue." The bowl is painted with a unique depiction of the Avanyu with an undulating pattern and is in excellent condition. Because her works such as this piece are seldom on the market, this would be a good piece to consider.
