1970's Raised Outline Navajo Rug

The style of Navajo rug known as a Raised Outline Navajo Rug was popular in the 1970's when this beautiful example was collected by a woman teaching school on the Navajo Reservation at that time.  The pattern of this rug is the Storm Pattern.  The weaver chose to use various hues of red, green and blue to create a very complicated, yet subtle color pattern for this rug.  Because of the subdued color palette and it's geometrical pattern, this rug would fit really well in a 1950's modernist decorated environment.
