Eskimo Ivory Carving of Fox
This is a very charming and naive depiction of an arctic fox with its bushy tail and elongated body. I am very fond of this earlier style of carving. I would occasionally see pieces like this 40 years ago in early collections or assemblages of Alaskan ivory carvings from the late 19th C or very early 20th C.
