Plateau Cornhusk Bag, C. 1940

This is a very visually colorful and interesting bag with each side having it’s own complex and unique design in wool yarn. The designs on both sides are composed of diamonds and triangles and yet each side is completely different. This is really an artist’s bag. It is woven on native hemp warp with a cotton string weft. Some of the colors have faded somewhat and there is some slight moth grazing but not to the extent that it interferes with the visual impact and enjoyment of this piece.
