Makah Lidded Basketry covered Bottle

 This is a very unusual Makah basketry covered bottle which creates a very artistic look. The bottle has a tear drop shaped glass stopper which has been covered with basketry creating an onion dome aspect to the piece much like domes on Russian orthodox churches. The shape of the bottle is globular with a long tapered neck and the designs on the bottle and the stopper are simple bands. However, the stopper gives this piece a very striking look. The basketry is in perfect condition and the bottom of the stopper which sits inside the bottle and is not visible has some chips missing.
